COMMUNITY News
CITY MANAGER’S MESSAGE
Dear San Dimas Community,
As summer winds down and we prepare to welcome the fall season, I wanted to take a moment to share some
exciting updates on the great things happening in our City. It has been a busy and productive year, and I’m
proud of the outstanding work our staff has accomplished on behalf of the San Dimas community.
After years of planning, collaboration, and construction, the A Line (formerly known as the Gold Line) is
approaching the start of passenger service. The San Dimas station is anticipated to open later this summer
or early fall, marking a major milestone in regional transportation. Our team has worked closely with Metro
to ensure the surrounding infrastructure is ready, including important safety improvements and signal timing adjustments at crossings.
Once service begins, we will continue to monitor traffic patterns and make any necessary refinements to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
Safety remains our top priority—both now and when the station is fully operational. We are working hand-in-hand with Metro, the Sheriff’s
Department, and our regional partners to ensure the station area is safe, clean, and welcoming for all. As we enter this new chapter of
increased connectivity, we remain committed to preserving the character of San Dimas and addressing community concerns proactively.
Looking ahead to the fall, we’re excited for the return of two beloved community traditions—the Running Scared 5K and the Halloween
Spooktacular. These events offer wonderful opportunities for residents of all ages to come together, celebrate, and enjoy everything our
community has to offer.
In our downtown, we were honored to receive an Award of Merit from the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Planning Association
for the City’s Downtown Specific Plan. This recognition reflects the thoughtful, community-driven approach we’ve taken to balance the
preservation of our small-town charm with thoughtful progress and revitalization.
Additional improvements are also underway throughout the city. The installation of 43 new decorative streetlights and more than 12,000
feet of underground conduit along Bonita Avenue and around the Civic Center is progressing well. This $1.3 million project will not only
enhance public safety, but also further beautify some of our most visible and frequently visited areas.
Housing remains a top priority across California, and we are proud to support programs that create meaningful opportunities for our
residents. Earlier this year, one of our residents received the keys to a fully rehabilitated mobile home through the Manufactured Housing
Opportunity & Revitalization Program (MORE). This was the first full replacement of its kind through this initiative, in which the City was
able to leverage newly available State grant funding. Stories like these illustrate the powerful impact of local partnerships and collective
efforts to improve lives right here in San Dimas.
Looking further ahead, our team remains engaged in regional planning efforts for the upcoming LA28 Olympics, including coordination
for potential events at the Fairplex. We are actively collaborating with regional partners to ensure our emergency management plans and
inter-agency coordination are fully prepared for any impacts the Olympics may bring to our area.
As always, I want to thank you for your continued support, feedback, and pride in our city. San Dimas remains a special place because of
the people who call it home. I hope you and your loved ones enjoy the remainder of the summer and take time to enjoy all the things that
make San Dimas such a wonderful community.
